So over the weekend, I decided to go to my local Barnes & Nobles and take a peek at their young-adult section. I fell in love with so many of the books they had and just couldn't leave them sitting on the shelf. Out of the 100's that I was interested in, I narrow it down to 6 books.
I realize how late I am joining the band-wagon on this one, but I fell in love with the plot! Yes, I'm one of those people who sees the movie before I read the book (I know there are other people that do this as well!). I finally purchased this book and am already halfway through it! I have no clue how I went this long without reading it! For all of you newbies (like me) to this book, here's a synopsis: Divergent is the first book of 3 in the series. It is about a girl named Tris who has to hide a secret from her society. Their society is in four factions and everyone at one point has to choose the faction they belong in. Choosing the wrong faction can greatly effect everyone and Tris is constantly trying to find out who she is and where she belongs.
Let's Get Lost by Adi Alsaid is about four teens spread across the country who have all met a girl named Leila. All of them need someone in their life that is willing to comfort them and that is exactly what she does. Leila, on the other hand, is a girl who wants to see the Northern Lights. She forever changes the people she comes in contact with and she even finds out secrets to herself that she never knew. I highly recommend this to every single teenager on the planet! It's so inspiring and proves to you that what you need most is right where you started.
Tim Tharp wrote a book called The Spectacular Now about a boy named Sutter Keely. Sutter's life is slowly falling apart around him. His girlfriend threatens to break up with him again, his best friend is no longer fun and exciting, his mom and sister are getting on his nerves, and his dad is a big fat question mark to him. Sutter is in his senior year of high school and is the life of all parties. A girl named Aimee then enters his life and makes him question what he has turned himself into. I have to admit, I am rushing through Divergent because I want to read this so badly! When I found out that Sutter is played by Miles Teller, it made me love the book even more.
Nicholas Sparks is known for writing books that will swoop girls off their feet, but I believe this is the best yet. The Best of Me is about Amanda Collier and Dawson Cole, two high school students that fall in love. Neither of their families are fond of each other, as Amanda comes from a rich and proper family and Dawson's family is always getting in trouble. The two are broken apart and are forced to see each other again when their friend dies. I'm not going to say anymore because it would give everything away. If you want to find what happens once they meet up again, read the book! I guarantee everybody who hasn't read this book yet is going to regret it!
